What is stillbirth?

 

Stillbirth is the result of a baby without a signs of life it happens at or after at 20-28 weeks of pregnancy and the baby is born without a signs of life so they will need to do a C-section to remove the baby.

 

A sudden decrease or complete stop in fetal movement is the most important warning sign of stillbirth as babies typically maintain consistent patterns of kicks and movement in later pregnancy.

Signs/Symptoms

 

Stillbirth, the loss of a baby at or after 20 weeks of pregnancy, can be caused by placental problems infections, birth defects, umbilical cord complications or maternal health conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes.However even with known risk factors such as smoking obesity or advanced maternal age nearly half of stillbirth cases have no clearly identified cause.
