Death rate during Triathlon occurs twice the rate of Marathon

Most deaths occur in middle-aged men, over 45, and during swimming segment

The stress response during swimming  is higher than during a Maximal Cardiac Stress Test

Triathlon swimming is different than laps swimming

Added stress is due to waves, temperature changes, poor visibility

Most of the victims had undiagnosed heart disease, uncovered by extreme stress level
