Branding Yourself in a JS World
What is a brand?

What makes branding yourself so important?
- Career Opportunities
- You show what you know
- You show passion
- Career Choices
- You can better show which languages you like to work in/with
- Better Lifestyle
- Better job choice = less hours worked for an evil corporation.
That is great and all, but I'm a JS developer
- We still have to create a resume, create a linked In account, and produce content
- Blog
- Opensource
- Tutorials
- Everyone need to show off a little to attract attention
What can I do now to brand myself?
Blog
Linked In
Opensource
Be a part of the community, and the community will be there for you!
This is what really helps get you jobs, recognition, and free food.
Oh, but wait
We can still do one big thing to increase our rep as a developer and boost our brand.

Portfolio!
We can build our own apps in the language, framework, and/or environment that we want to get a job in.
Let's do that!
We will be building a Brand site where we will have a blog, portfolio area, and contact info.
Btw, you can also show off code snippets on your shiny new portfolio!
Meteor.js I choose you!

Meteor.js as a blog or portfolio piece is like forcing armor onto an over sized marshmallow

But we are going to do it anyways!
Because we can...
Ok, but really, we do it to help show of our sick JS skills, or at least, it shows off what I want
You can build your own site with node.js, angular, react.js, or even... php.
Whatever you choose, make sure it will help your skills, brand, and goals
If you want to be a pro blogger than use a framework that has good SEO because what we are about to do might not be the best choice for SEO.
So don't make a huge mistake

Lets start making our huge mis... new brand page.

I'm not a designer...

But we are blessed because we have BOOTSTRAP templates!
The only rule of template club is to never leave it like you found it!
Change the css and layout!
Now go and conquer your brand the JS way!
