America's use of propaganda during World War I

The CPI was established in 1917 and existed until 1919 with the goal of influencing public opinion in favor of U.S. participation in WWI. 

Led by former journalist George Creel, CPI produced various types of propaganda and practiced censorship of American media. 

The CPI also operated on behalf of the U.S. government in Europe.
