The City of Marvel

A casual observation

What are we doing?

On the one hand we're building an oven, but what if we were building a city?

Not just a shanty town but something that would stand the test of time.

What kind of roles would we need then?

Three personas

  • Trailblazer
  • City Planner
  • Settler

Trailblazer

Goes into the wilderness and clears the jungle, clearing the way for those coming after.

Moves fast, is content when things around him move fast.

City Planner

Works in the macro realm, planning out where streets and houses are going to be generations in the future.

Likes to take his time, ensuring a decision has maximum benefit for the future.

Settler

The Settler moves in after the Trailblazer has blazed a trail. He digs the well, builds the house and paves the road and moves in.

He gets input from the City Planner, but his work is not possible without the work of the Trailblazer.

He is the all-important glue between the others.

Further observations

  • Each of us are in different modes at different times
  • The whole team also can be in various modes at various times.
  • Why am i making this observation?
    • To plant a seed that can lead to greater harmony in the team
    • To inspire discussion around the necessity of each and every role.
    • To have us think about how we can best accomodate each other, no matter which role we happen to be in at the time.

The End

...or just the beginning?
