A journey into becoming a feminist mapmaker
Today's journey
- From covering the news to trying to cover the world with points and lines
- A crisis of belonging. How to build selfconfidence within your community of practice?
- Making the difference together
GEODATA PRODUCTION WITH A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE
- The participation of women and underrepresented genders in geospatial communities, such as OpenStreetMap, academia, and so on.
- The representation of women and underrepresented genders’ needs in our maps and in our communities agendas.
- The role of women and underrepresented genders in decision making spaces, so we can at some point let go of that domestic, practical housekeeping we’re emerged.

...maps represent the world through a veil of ideology, are fraught with internal tensions, provide classic examples of power-knowledge, and are always caught up in wider political contexts. J. B Harley (1990)
How can we challenge power and representation with our maps?
Thank you!
