COURSE OVERVIEW

WEBDEV2 is the second course in the web track. It trains students in developing website for real clients. The
course focuses on planning, organizing, design conceptualization, project monitoring, and managing resources
supplied by the client to bring about a successful completion of project goals and objectives. The challenge of
this course is to ensure client and end user satisfaction in spite of project constraints such as time, scope,
budget, etc.
 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

 

1. Identify a variety of web development strategies and tools such as HTML5, jQuery plugins, Cascading Style
Sheets and applications for embedding multimedia, to create effective websites;
2. Understand the rationale behind popular and effective web design trends;
3. Use the technicalities of web development to create standards-compliant websites that are accessible and
user-friendly;
4. Explain the effectiveness of the website in addressing its objectives and the needs of its users;
5. Evaluate web projects according to industry standards; and
6. Create dynamic, effective and responsive web projects.

COURSE POLICIES

 

▶ Arriving late 2 times is equivalent to 1 absence. Late is considered half-absence. You will be marked late if you arrive within the first 30 minutes of the class hours (Section 3.1.3 Student Handbook).

 

▶ You will be marked absent if you arrive after the first 30 minutes of the class hours. Accumulating more than 2.5 absences will automatically result in a 0.0 for the course (Section 3.1.2 and Section 3.1.5 Student Handbook).

COURSE POLICIES

 

▶  Absences will only be excused if it is due to a university-sanctioned event. A duly signed and Approved Absence Form shall prove university-sanctioned events. Approved absences shall not be counted as part of the number of allowable absences and you will be allowed to make-up for any missed activity at the soonest time possible (Section 3.1.7 Student Handbook).

 

COURSE POLICIES

 

▶  Absences due to sickness, death in the immediate family, reunions, or weddings are NOT considered Approved Absences and should therefore be counted against a student’s attendance even if certified by a doctor, parent, or guardian (Section 3.1.7.f and 3.1.7.g Student Handbook).


 Absences due to prolonged illness and emergency accidents should be reported immediately to the adviser and to the Program Chair or School Dean, for appropriate action (Section 3.1.7.f Student Handbook).

 

COURSE POLICIES

 

 Teachers are not allowed to give a special final examination to those who missed the final exam, except for those who missed it due to an approved school activity as evidenced by the Approved Absence Form, conflict in Final Exam schedule with other classes, and absence due to sickness as evidenced by a medical certificate (Section 3.2.6).

 

 Project requirements should be submitted during the assigned dates, time, and venue. There will be NO extensions on project deadlines.

COURSE POLICIES

 

 Non-submission of assigned tasks will merit a 0.0 for the task.

 

 Project requirements should strictly follow the prescribed format. Submitted works that do not follow the prescribed format will immediately get a 10% grade deduction.

For this class, you will need to get both a DOMAIN and WEB HOST


The domain is www.something.com   or .net or .org etc. It is renewable each year.

A host is a space is  a web server where you will upload your files to the world can access it via the internet.

You need a host where you can upload HTML. Do not get codeless website options. You want to code in HTML and upload it.
