The Dust Layer

Lignite Power Plants in Kosovo

26.12.2015 | Germia (supposed to be cleaner)

The current situation:

"Kosovo A (345 MW, 40 year old) in

poor condition and is the worst

single - point source of pollution in

Europe." - World Bank

"Renewables

should be developed but Kosovo has limited potential."

Conclusion:

The main source for air pollution was coal-burned power plant and traffic (old vehicles) in Kosovo.*

"It depends on which way the wind is blowing, when it comes this way I have to close all the windows because it smells terrible." - Julie

Where we want to focus on:

The Human Condition

What we thought we need to get / to research:

  • Cancer rates of the region (to compare)
  • Water tests (flasks)
  • Analysis of breathing capacity to get more specific numbers
  • Personal stories
  • Suicide rates (mental health, living standard)
  • Health conditions, health costs, connection towards the plant
