The main way in which my product will engage with the audience is through social media. They have the option to submit suggestions or even their work (such as their music or photographs) - in order to be featured in an issue. The magazine can be contacted on any social media and the e-mail of the magazine is also presented in every issue.
The audience’s opinion on the articles and photography is very important, because the magazine will keep experimenting and not follow a straight pattern – so their feedback will be crucial for the magazine to improve continuously. The magazine will also give the audience an option to receive a weekly newsletter which will present them various topics such as underground artists, art exhibitions and such.
My magazine will be distributed only online, like all the magazines I got inspired from. The main platform used will be the magazine's website (grlpwr.com) and it will be a new issue every month. This is a great idea in my opinion, as my audience spends most of its time online, reading articles that are recommended to them by Facebook (for example), based on their likes.
I will have one issue per year which will be distributed in the print version, if my fanbase would grow. It would be considered a collection item due to its uniqueness. People would be more likely to buy the print version if the artists in it are more famous, so I would wait for the magazine to be global and sort of famous. When printing it, I would print it in a slightly different format such as the letter one, in order to be more easy to distinguish. The printed version will be distributed only to the people who will order it from the website. This issue will not be available online and it will be longer than the online one.
I would promote my magazine through Facebook and Instagram – having these 2 logos and pages presented in my magazine. This will be done through the sponsored option on the websites and hashtags (such as #grlpwr). Also, on Facebook I will be able to share events such as concerts of the artists I am supporting or various articles that my viewers might find interesting. These would appear as notifications, so the people following the magazine would be more likely to see them. Instagram will be useful, because the majority of people use it to discover various artists or to follow their favourite celebrities. My magazine could be supported by such a community as my pictures are meant to be artistic and send a message.
I would also use Tumblr for people who appreciate photography even more. Tumblr is a very friendly platform from which I could get suggestions but also gain followers. I will also promote it through other means such as doing collaborations with various local artists that are trying to promote their music, photographers or even online clothing stores. I would also promote it by involving various activists that are dedicating their lives to supporting feminism and the change of certain stigmas that I am trying to avoid. They would be inclined to support me by sharing my work to their followers, because it would exemplify what is their vision.
