JADE: "Mum, is my school dressed washed?"

"Mum, time to wake up"

"Why does mum never wake up"

This piece of dialogue that Jade says gives the audience an idea that Jade usually has to dress herself up, without the mother preparing anything for her, despite Jade's effort to wake up her mum and ask her for some assistance. In addition Jade has to be the one to wake mum up, which is seen as unorthodox as it;s usually the parent who wakes up the child, not the other way around.

MOTHER: "Just go away you stupid girl"

"I told you I don’t want any more toys in this house. Look at the mess in this house! Go and put that in the bin right now"

This line of dialogue that the mother says to Jade quite frankly should never be said to a young child, especially to someone who's not at blame for anything. However, this shows how the mother treats Jade and gives the audience an idea of how their relationship is like, It's a relationship where no love is given to the child from the parent and it's something like this that the audience will take away from the short film when they watch it.

However, we needed some of the script because we needed to carefully review our narrative and making changes, thus as a result our script had to be changed.

*Miss Sahota walks in the room*

Jade: "What's in the room?"

Miss Sahota: Hello Jade, would you like to come and see?'

This conversation between the daughter, Jade, and the teacher, Miss Hendricks. This conversation is about the teacher being concerned for Jade's situation at home. This shows that due to the relationship the mother and Jade and how it's affected her at home and it also shows how that reflects how she does in school.  This gives the audience the feeling that the teacher is a very important and strong part within this storyline and also raises some curiosity about what could happen later on within the short film and the audience can get a full understanding  of the teacher and what role she plays later on in the story.

IN THE FUN ROOM

Miss Sahota: "This is a safe place Jade, you can come here anytime you want to talk"

Jade: "Can I come back and play with these toys?"

Miss Sahota: "Do you have any toys at home?"

Jade: "I’m not allowed"

Miss Sahota: "I’m sure you can take this pot of play dough home"

Jade: "Can I really Miss?"

Miss Sahota: "Of course you can"

AT HOME

*Knock on the door*

Miss Sahota: "Hi, I’m Miss Sahota, I’m a family support worker that works at Jade's School. Is it okay if I come in and have a chat with you and Jade?"

*Jade smiles with relief*

This conversation takes place in the fun room where Miss Sahota takes her to relax and make friends with her. This shows that Miss Sahota is opening up to her and being a friends to Jade, especially at a time where Jade needs a friend. Her relationship with her mother has caused Jade to have her childhood taken away from her. This makes the audience feel very empathetic for her and causes them to create a bond with the daughter, this will enhance the viewing experience of the audience and they will take a lot from the short film.

This line is said by Miss Sahota when she knocks on the door of Jade's home. This shows how Miss Sahota cares deeply for Jade and wants her to be safe and restore her lost childhood. This makes the audience feel relieved now that Jade is in good hands and has someone who actually cares for her, unlike her mother.
