Vehicle to Cloud Latency

Vehicle to Cloud Latency
Safety use cases involving more than two vehicles will require ubiquitous vehicle-to-infrastructure applications that leverage existing mobile and cloud service providers. What connected-vehicle applications can take advantage of current vehicle-to-cloud connectivity? What kind of latency will connected cars encounter when they employ LTE to send data to cloud providers? How much does latency change by locale mobile operator or cloud providers within the US? How can automotive engineers who rely on cloud connectivity create robust applications? MIT Systems Design and Management Fellow Ricardo DeMatos has logged 10k miles in a concerted effort to answer these questions and validate how safety use cases can use the public cloud. He will preview the results from his cross-country survey of major mobile operators and public cloud providers and discuss how safety-related connected vehicle applications can be architected using the technology available today.
