NCCU Goes Green
In the beginning of June I started...
"Do not think that reducing carbon emissions to combat
global warming has nothing to do with the average citizen.
Actually, it is closely related to all of us. [...] scientists
confirmed that the vegetarianism we have been promoting is very effective in reducing carbon emissions. Vegetarianism cleans our body and mind, and raising fewer animals will make the air and land cleaner. There should be love and goodness among people. Vegetarianism not only benefits our health but also nurtures our moral concepts. It is the best way to take care of both our physical and mental wellbeing."

WHY?
because of Master Cheng Yen
...and because of the facts
- it takes 22,000 liters of water to produce 1kg of meat (but only 750 l for vegetables)
- meat production uses 70 % of all agricultural land on Earth
- producing 1 kg of meat leads to removal of 50 sq. meters of rainforest
- average number of animals consumed during a lifetime of one meat-eater is 3,960
- I wrote a petition to NCCU President calling him for opening a vegetarian buffet on campus
- so far 259 people signed it, including around 200 NCCU students
- in the second half of June professor 蔡育新 (head of General Affairs Dept.) responded to my campaign and said that the school heard the voice of the students and that it will take steps towards opening the buffet
- on August 31st I shared this success in a talk with Master Cheng Yen
- on September 18th there was a meeting with the contractor MedFirst who will provide the vegetarian buffet - I co-organized the meeting with professor 蔡
- the opening is planned for November 10th
- on September 30th I met with prof. 蔡 and shared with him my ideas:
1/ I want to set up a booth on campus and promote the vegetarian lifestyle among the students
2/ I want to start a Vegetarian Student Club on NCCU

請政大校長批准在政大校園內設立素食自助餐！
