It is the practice of gaining sexual pleasure from watching others when they are naked or engaged in sexual activity.
Voyeurism is a disorder that involves achieving sexual arousal by observing an unsuspecting and non-consenting person who is undressing or unclothed, and/or engaged in sexual activity.
In this presentation i'll be talking about all the types of voyeurisms used in music videos.
The concept of voyeurism is derived from the theory of Sigmund Freud psychoanalytical.
'Notion of looking' and 'Screens within screens' emphasizes the viewers intention of looking at someone for their pleasure.
Andrew Goodwin states that it is usually the women who are being objectified in this way through the camerawork and editing with fragmented body shoots, which isn't the case always.
Laura Mulvey is best known for her essay, 'Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema Her article, which was influenced by the theories of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan, is one of the first major essays that helped shift the orientation of film theory towards a psychoanalytic framework.
She talks about male gaze, and other types of gazes used in media texts.

-
Spectator's gaze
This type of gaze comes in where the viewer is present within the music video similar to the audience, watching the actors being engaged into sexual activities or explicit scenes. The examples are shown below:

-
Male gaze!
This is where the male looks at the female due to having sexual desires. It is the act of depicting the world and women in the visual arts and literature from a masculine and heterosexual point of view, presenting women as objects of male pleasure.

Wrecking ball by Miley Cyrus.
Female gaze is totally opposite to the male gaze's concept. Female being shown as the voyeur is rare but now is getting common too. This is used where the female gains the visual pleasure as being the audience.
-
Female gaze.
Harmony work
-
Intra-diegetic gaze
This is where one of the actors on screen watches another in order to gain pleasure.

-
Extra-diegetic gaze
Extra-diegetic gaze is when the artist or the actor in the film makes a direct contact with the audience and communicates with them.
