Albums generally tend to come in a plastic case which is the usual packaging for CDs but sometimes in the music industry artists release 'digi-paks' which are cardboard booklets of around 4, 6 or 8 panels which include extra content like a booklet, information about the artist or any upcoming gigs or something the artist have recently produced.

The digi-pak also helps to promote the artist and build a fan base. It also helps to establish the artists genre as it would have conventional genre connotations that would link to a music video or album.
