Ted Blenkers

My name is Ted Blenkers and I am a ship captain. I have been going to the sea
since I was 10 years old. My father was a sailor and professional fisher who
worked on the west coast of Canada for as long as I can remember. I worked with
him since I was 10. The sea to me is everything; I do not even realize my life
without it.

Ted Blenkers - Ship Captain

I moved to Seattle when I was 24 and joined the Bering Sea crab fishing fleet.

I kept working there until I got my promotion and named the captain of the vessel
in 1982.

Imagine working with someone who does not love anything but the sea since he
was a kid. From 1982 to 2009, I worked for 27 years as a captain of many fishing
vessels. The vessels varied from 95 feet to 240 feet. I managed small crews (5 to 6
persons) on small vessels and large crews (20 to 50 persons) on larger vessels.

The crew is determined according to the size of the ship and its missions.
From 2000 to 2009, I worked as a catcher/processor on F/V Baranof and managed
20 to 32 crewmembers.

I worked at the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, Gulf of Alaska and West Coast
Canada. That is why my experience is beyond exceptional.
From January 2008 to August 2019, I managed M/Y Lady D (Official number
740614), which is a private Yacht, as a captain.
