The number of passengers and the distance of separation from the coast are the main differences, in terms of attributions between one qualification and the other, being higher than those of the PPER.

The time and dedication to obtain each one is another important difference. To be a Yacht Captain PRO, it is enough to have the title issued with its complementary attributions and have the STCW Certificate of Basic Safety Training.

In order to reach the PPER, in addition to having issued the title of Captain of the Yacht, four STCW professional courses must be carried out - Basic Safety Training, Restricted Operator of the SMSSM, Initial Specific Sanitary Training and Non-Fast Rescue Boats - passing an official examination of the DGMM that is done twice a year in Madrid and pass the medical boarding examination.
