What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Photoshop
During the process of the media course I learnt many new skills, one of them was photoshop. This was very new to me as I have never used photoshop before, however it was very easy to learn new skills as the outcome was very appropriate for creating my magazine.
One very successful skill I learnt whilst using photoshop was the spot healing tool. This made improved the outlook o the images of the models making it look more professional and appropriate for my magazine.
Tools of photoshop
The spot healing tool was a very useful tool as it allows you to remove and spots and blemishes making the images look more professional and attractive.
The text tool is used to create text vertically and horizontally.
The brush tool allows you to add detail by drawing on you work freely.
The colour sampler tool this allows you to use the exact colour elsewhere, such as with different shapes and text. This allows you to create a consistent theme.
Cameras
Also, in this experience of creating my magazine I learnt
how to use a high tech camera properly in order to get the best quality images. One skill I learnt was to hold the shutter button half way down, the focuses the camera lens and creates a higher quality image. I also learnt how to direct as a photographer due to telling the models what poses and facial expressions are suitable for the shoot, and making the decision what camera angle would go best for that pose. Such as high angles, low angles, two shots and mid shots.
STUDIO EXPERIENCE
We had a studio set up in school to take professional photos with a high tech camera of our models. We had a practice run in order to understand the use of the camera better and what colours work better with what theme. Such as a red backdrop would suit the theme of rock best due to its very electric stereotype. Therefore I decided for my theme of hip hop I used light blues and white washes for my backdrop to make the models stand out more on the image.
Blogging
Throughout the course, I used a variety of different websites and applications of my work in an exciting way to make it more interesting and enjoyable. Examples of these are:
- Emaze
- Piktochart
- Prezi
- Pintrest
- Survey Monkey
- Youtube
These websites were very successful in creating my blog as it you adapt them to fit my theme of hip hop, by adding images and colours that are suitable.
Indesign
I first came across InDesign to create my double page spread, I found that it was a very successful format to create my double page spread on as images are easily processed through and can be changed to a high quality improving the image. Also, it was very easy to apply text and adapt it to become more eye catching. Text wrap was one feature I used which created the text to form around images which made it look like a real magazine.
