Katy Perry - Dark Horse ft. Juicy J
Camera Shots
Title
In the music video a range of camera shots are used. At the beginning of the music video a tracking shot is used to show the setting (Video one below) this is a convention of pop videos because they tend to change the setting a lot in order to match what is being sang about.
Long shots are also used a couple of times in the video. This shows the artists performance and this is important in pop videos because the artist’s performance is normally easy to copy by fans therefore widening their fan base.
Mise-en-scene
In most pop music videos high key lighting is used because this type of genre is mostly upbeat and positive. This is seen in Katy Perry's video. By using high key lighting it also brightens up the set on the video and the costume worn. (Video two below).
In this pop video the body language and positioning of the artist pushes the viewer to see who the main person in the video is and it also gives a lot away about the video. In this case Katy Perry's body language is very open showing that she is confident instead of it being closed off maybe looking vulnerable.
Editing
In the video match on action is used to show how powerful Katy Perry, in most pop videos by female artist they are normally the powerful ones and the ones in charge and this is shown. (Video three below)
Shot Reverse shot is used at the beginning at of the video and it always goes back to Katy Perry in order to shows that is the most important person in the music video. (Video four below)
