Interceding for Others

In this session, we will see that the privilege of prayer is not only for ourselves but also for the benefit of others. God calls us to pray in the Spirit, according to His will, as we intercede for other believers. We also pray for the gospel to go forth through bold and gracious messengers.

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness;
—1 Timothy 4:7

Memory Verse

1. Pray continually in the Spirit (Eph. 6:18).

2. Pray for other believers
(Eph. 6:18).

3. Pray for the gospel to go forth (Eph. 6:19-20).

Conclusion

Intercession is a great gift, a way God has allowed us to participate in His work in the lives of others. By praying for one another, we join our hearts to the heart of God for the good of others, for the church, and for the world.

Fasting

Prayer’s companion is fasting, a physical expression of our repentance and dependence upon God for sustenance and salvation. Through fasting, we can develop a hunger for God and His glory. Jesus calls us to fast with the right motives, and the prophets reminded us that fasting has an outward orientation of love and mercy toward those around us.
