Religion
The Cherokee worshiped the deer god. Every time they killed a deer they said a prayer to the deer god. Most of the Cherokee's gods were animals. The Cherokee thought if they didn't say a prayer after killing a deer, the deer god would take all the deer away from them.

Festivals
The Cherokee had many festivals. I liked the Green Corn Festival. This festival happened once a year when the corn was ripe. When the people heard it was ripe nobody could take a bite of it. When the chief heard about the corn being ripe he would tell the other clans and then the chiefs of all
the clans and their seven councilors would fast for seven days before the feast. Every clan would gather seven ears of corn and rekindle the bonfire for the feast. Then they would sacrifice the seven ears of corn and a deer tongue. After, all the people would feast. Besides for the chief he had to eat the old corn.
Medicine Men
The Cherokee medicine men were exactly as they sound. They're Medicine men. They were very skilled people. They knew how to make medicine out of tree bark and tree roots. These men would teach the white men doctors too. They called them, "white men doctors."

Death
The Cherokee had funerals for the dead like we do now. The Cherokee rubbed the deceased with lavender because they thought lavender was spiritual. They would dig a deep hole for the dead person. They didn't have a casket so they just placed the body in there and put the dirt back in.
Blood Sacrifice
The Cherokee would sacrifice a deer tongue occasionally but they didn't have blood sacrifices of people.
Class
The Cherokee didn't have a class. The only class was the chief and the citizens.

Marriage
Marriage back then for Cherokee was complicated. When you found someone you wanted to marry you would have to find someone in your clan and ask them if it was okay if you could get married to that person. If the person you asked said no, you had to keep asking other people until someone said yes.
If no one said yes, you couldn't get married to that person. After you found someone that said yes, you would go to the chief and he would grab two roots. If both roots moved at the same time you could get married, if only one moved then you couldn't get married to that person. Then you would ask permission from the chief.
Women and men
Women would also make the fire and plant crops for them to eat. The women would also make beautiful baskets and pretty rugs for the house.
Back then women and men were considered equal. They both had their own roles in the village and house. The men would hunt and fish and the woman would take care of the children and have the children. The women were considered warriors also in the clans.
Arts and crafts
The women would make clay pots, rugs, and utensils for eating. The men would make nets and canoes for fishing. They would also make pipes and rattles. They made rattles to scare away evil spirits.

Daily Life
Daily life for Cherokee was usually fishing, crafting, farming, and hunting. Cherokee lived in villages with 400-500 people per village. There was a plaza, town square, and council house for village meetings. There was a winter village and a summer village. One house for winter time one house for summer time.
Each house was decorated with beautiful rugs and baskets with all the beautiful colors.
Food
The Cherokee were farmers. They ate corn, squash, and beans. They also ate pumpkin, melons, and sunflower seeds. They grew most of these foods. The Cherokee would also hunt and fish for their food. Every part of the animal they killed was used. The skin, the meat, even the bones.
They thought that the corn and deer were more important.

Fashion
The men and women wore deer skins as clothes. Women wore thick deerskin skirts and tops. Men wore leggings and skirts in the winter and loin cloths in the summer. Women and men would also wear deerskin moccasins. Men would also wear thick robes in the winter.
Beauty
Men wore body paint and sometimes tattoos. Women sometimes wore jewelry that they made from shells and and silver.
