Characteristics

It's usually very controlling. Extremely poor. Very uncommon to have enough food for the people. 

Authority

Normally there is just one person or a small group of people running the country 

Leaders

Dictators usually take over. They hold no election. They just walk in there and take what they want. 

Peaceful way?

There is no easy way to stop a dictator. I'm sure there are peaceful ways but none have occurred yet. Normally, you have to kill them to stop them. One option is to ally. Not likely.

Laws

Dictators don't have to follow their own laws. Only the people have to follow them. They do whatever they want. 

The North Korean constitution provides for "freedom of religious belief". However, government policies continue to interfere with the individual's ability to choose and to manifest his or her religious belief.

More laws

In North Korea, there is no freedom of speech. It is illegal to leave NK without state permission. Many risk their lives for freedom of speech and to get away from the economic hardships of NK.

North Korea

Well. Life in North Korea is lousy. Not enough food. Most workers only get $2 to $3 dollars a month in pay for the government. Extreme poverty everywhere. Most houses don't have flushing toilets. Only 3 hours of electricity a day.

Venezuela

In Venezuela, it is extremely poor. People have to stand in a 2 hour long line just to get to the market. It's even worse getting the supplies they need. Shopping is usually a whole day deal. It takes a whole DAY just to get a dish soap and a bag of chips! Also, it is SO poor that when you go into a shop. The shelves are bare.

Compare and contrast

North Korea and Venezuela are very alike. First, they're both extremely poor. They both have dictators as leaders. Both struggle with getting food. 

Advantages

It is said that Dictatorship is 10 years ahead of Democracies because Dictators don't believe in debates and discussions. They also have a very strong government.

Disadvantages

Of course one is not having a lot of food for the people. Since the government is basically based on discipline, obedience, and violence not many of the people like them. 

Interesting...

I learned that North Koreans that can afford tvs get two. One tv is JUST for propaganda and another one is regular North Korean channels. Use their phones normally just for light. No internet and rarely any signal. In Venezuela, you can go to the market for cheese and water and you will come out with rags and a pack of coke.
