New media in fight against discrimination and militarism

new/social media, a definition

1. Participation: social media encourages contributions and feedback from everyone who is interested. It blurs the line between media and audience.

2. Openness: most social media services are open to feedback and participation. They encourage voting, comments and the sharing of information. There are rarely any barriers to accessing and making use of content – password-protected content is frowned on.

3. Conversation: whereas traditional media is about „broadcast‟ (content transmitted or distributed to an audience) social media is better seen as a two-way conversation.

4. Community: social media allows communities to form quickly and communicate effectively. Communities share common interests, such as a love of photography, a political issue or a favourite TV show.

5. Connectedness: Most kinds of social media thrive on their connectedness, making use of links to other sites, resources and people.

The white ribbons symbolism goes back to May 31, 1992, when local administration of the Bosnian Serbs in Prijedor (and in several other places later) issued an order over the local radio to non-Serb population to mark their houses with which flags or bed-sheets, and that they have to wear a white ribbon on their arms when they leave their homes.

Law on Unique Master Citizen Number (JMBG)

  1. Adoption of the Law on JMBG – and IMMEDIATELY. More specifically, we, the citizens of BiH, demand an adoption of a Law that will fully respect the Decision U3/11 of the Constitutional Court which ordered our elected representatives in the Parliamentary Assembly to synchronize Article 5 of the Law on JMBG with the BiH Constitution.
  2. Creation of a state Solidarity Fund that would finance the treatment abroad for citizens for whom proper treatment is not available in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
