Alternate Histories

I. Research (30 points)

Sources (10 points): Students should use at least three different sources, with at least one being the Aeneid.

Depth (10 points): The depth of the research should reflect a thorough understanding of the character. Look for a wide variety of descriptors, not just the most common or obvious ones.

Citation (10 points): All sources should be correctly cited according to the appropriate style (MLA, APA, etc.).

II. Analysis (30 points)

Understanding of Character (15 points): The students should demonstrate an understanding of the character's role in the Aeneid and any other works they're discussed in.

Use of Descriptors (15 points): The students should explain how the descriptors they've chosen reflect the character's personality, actions, and role.

III. Creativity (20 points)

Artistic Representation (10 points): The portrait should be thoughtful and creative, showing the character in a way that reflects the research done.

Incorporation of Descriptors (10 points): The descriptors should be incorporated into the portrait in a way that makes sense and adds depth to the representation.

IV. Presentation (20 points)

Written Reflection (10 points): Students should write a brief reflection explaining their research process, their analysis, and how they incorporated their findings into their portrait.

Oral Presentation (10 points): Students should present their portrait to the class, explaining their work and answering any questions their classmates or you might have.

Depth (10 points): The research should reflect a thorough understanding of the historical context, the character or event in question, and the potential consequences of the hypothetical change.

Citation (5 points): All sources should be correctly cited according to the appropriate style (MLA, APA, etc.).

II. Analysis (25 points)

Understanding of Context (10 points): The students should demonstrate an understanding of the original historical or literary context.

Plausible Changes (15 points): The students should propose plausible changes that could have occurred if the hypothetical event had happened.

III. Creativity (20 points)

Narrative Construction (10 points): The group should construct a compelling narrative around their alternate history scenario.

Integration of Research (10 points): The research and analysis should be seamlessly integrated into the narrative, informing the characters, events, and outcomes.

IV. Presentation (30 points)

Written Report (15 points): The group should provide a written report detailing their research, analysis, and narrative.

Oral Presentation (15 points): The group should present their alternate history to the class, explaining their work and answering any questions their classmates or you might have.
