Time-based maps

How to use Torque with CartoDB

@JacopoOttaviani

A time-based map visualises events developing over space and over time.

To make a time-based map you need:

  • Location column (data type: geometry)
  • Date column (data type: date)
  • CartoDB's wizard called Torque

Torque configuration

  • Select the right time column
  • You can configure duration, steps, shape, colour, stroke
  • If you make it cumulative, markers do not disappear from the map
  • If your markers belong to different categories, you can use «Torque Cat» and have markers of different colours
