ShipWeld Certification

Objective

This project will automate welder qualifications so that they can be updated on-the-job without off-line testing. Allowing them to stay on the job while weld certification processes are conducted in-line with the work performed as opposed to non-value added products for certification only.

ShipWeld Certification

Deliverables/Benefits/ROI

  • Reduce / Remove cost associated with conducting off-line welder certification testing
  • Automate certification / qualifications tracking, auditing, and reporting
  • Define and track weld definitions in the Digital Twin for production data reuse

Panel Project Whitepaper Proposal

Prime/Lead: Austal USA

Team: SSIUSA, Ship Architects, Inc.

Class 1 Pipe Weld Tracking

Objective

This project aims to improve the process associated with Class I Pipe Weld Tracking by using the Digital Twin to identify, label, and track ship critical pipe welds that exist within the design model. To provide means to identify pipe weld requirements, numbering and tracking within production that are aligned with Navy documentation in an automated fashion.

Class 1 Pipe Weld Tracking

Deliverables/Benefits/ROI

  • Reduce / Remove cost associated with creating the annotated pipe drawings detailing the locations and weld identifiers

  • Automate the creation of P-1 Joint tracking cards out of the Digital Twin

  • Automate the creation of detailed weld location / type information on spool drawings
