Indomethacin

• NSAID
   
• Reduce fever, pain and inflammation
   
• Reduce production of prostaglandins by COX 

Imporatant to know when taking Indomethacin

• Risk of intestine and stomach bleeding
  • symptoms: 
    • black, bloody or tarry stool 
    • coughing up blood
    • vomit that looks like coffee grounds
• Risk of heart attack or shock 

Other side effects.. 

• Acid or sour stomach
• belching
• diarrhea
• heartburn
• indigestion
• nausea
• stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
• vomiting

Important to avoid when taking Indomethacin

• Alcohol (because of GI side effects)
   
• Breastfeeding
