It is a mistake to consider Psychedelia as just one thing - Creative Enhancer.

Psyche-delia means to 'make clear' or 'visible' the mind

Psychedelia started in London, New York and San Francisco around the same time.

1960's

THE RADICAL PHASE

The late 50s marked the era for a consumerist society by widening ownership of white goods, cars, clothes and furnitures.

The era was going through a radical phase - Anti Vietnamese Revolutions, Civil and Women Right's Movement and other socio-political changes.

ANARCHO-CAPITALISM

The libertarians have embraced many symbols and this is one of them. The black portion signifies anarchy and the yellow (or gold) intended to signify commodity of exchange. The symbol actively represents convergence of anti-state, propertarian and pro market (capitalist) traditions.

Anarcho-capitalism formed from the new fashion shops, co-ops, art galleries, night clubs and concert venues that sprung up in London, New York and San Francisco.

Where did all begin?

Albert Hoffman

(1906-2008)

- Did his Degree in Chemistry from the University of Zurich

- Synthesized LSD in 1938

- 1943 known as the 'Bicycle day'the first intentional acid trip

.....affected by a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness. At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination. In a dreamlike state, with eyes closed (I found the daylight to be unpleasantly glaring), I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors. After some two hours this condition faded away.

Expressions of psychedelia sprouted with the articulation and production of visual arts and rock music through the intake of mind altering drugs.
