Differences from Angular 1 to Angular 2
Just kidding.
why monopoly
is garbage
1. The history of the game is fucked
In 1902, Elizabeth Magie created the precursor to Monopoly called
The Landlord's Game.
"[A] practical demonstration of the present system of land grabbing with all its usual outcomes and consequences."
Many derivative versions were created...
By the 1970s, everyone thought this dude named Charles Darrow made the game.
tl;dr
Dude steals woman's idea, pawns it off as his own, and becomes a millionaire.
As late as 2012, Hasbro (Parker Brothers) still ignored the actual history.
conclusion:
Men are assholes.
(Also, Monopoly is a copied idea with no educational component.)
2. Monopolies are illegal
here's a great idea
Make a kid's game built on the idea of exclusive control of resources in order to force other people into bankruptcies.
</sarcasm>
Okay. Great. Nothing bad will happen from that.
The goal of anti-trust laws is to actually make capitalism healthier.
When competition is removed from capitalism, companies can collude to arbitrarily raise prices.
If you are pro-Capitalism it would logically follow that you would be against monopolies
but srsly, tho
So maybe don't play games with your children that glorify the concept?
conclusion:
Uncontrolled capitalism is stoopid.
(Also, if you like capitalism you should probably not be stoked about monopolies.)
3. The game has no strategy
If you've ever played Monopoly as an app
you'll probably notice the computer just buys every spot they land on. Because, this is basically the strategy.
A.K.A. can you roll dice ok then
There is actually a strategy that can be applied which purchasing certain properties, not buying utilities, staying in jail...
But, basically, hope you're lucky.
conclusion:
Let's just play Yahtzee.
(Also, it's pretty fucking hilarious that whether or not you're rich is wholly dependent on luck.)
