Hi guys! My name’s Alexa, and I’m super excited to spend the evening with y’all. I don’t know about you, but the holidays are one of my favorite times of the year. I’m gonna tell you a little bit about myself, and then we can get on to the fun stuff!
I’ve always grown up in a home that values natural health, and my siblings and I were always the “weird” kids who got dried fruit instead of gummy bears and had to take a handful of supplements each morning with breakfast. But it wasn’t until college that I started using essential oils, and once I graduated I took the plunge and became a “hard core oiler.”
*I am not a doctor and everything I talk about tonight is my own opinion and not regulated by the FDA. Please do your own research and seek professional advice when deciding how to use oils.
While celebrating the holidays can be super fun, we all know they can sometimes be kinda stressful. Between rushing to find everyone the perfect gift, extra baking and cooking, and spending time with family who may not be all that easy to get along with, there’s a lot to deal with this time of year. Add to that all the extra germs that like to visit this time of year; It can be overwhelming!
Thankfully, Young Living has some awesome products to help you out! In this class we’re going to go over all the ways their products can make this time of year a little less chaotic and a little more fun! I’ll show you some fun gift ideas--including DIYs--easy ways to incorporate essential oils into your favorite holiday recipes, and share a few diffuser blends to make your house smell AMAZING for all your holiday gatherings!
I know it’s only the beginning of November, but I’m already excited for Thanksgiving. It’s like the kickoff to the holiday season! Both of my parents come from big families so I’m used to loud, crazy, and crowded family get togethers, and Thanksgiving is no exception!
With lots of family comes lots of different food to eat, and lots of people with too-full tummies! In my book, Digize and TummyGize are a must for all things tummy related.
Digize has so many great essential oils, including Ginger, Peppermint, Fennel, and Lemongrass.
Some of the key ingredients in Tummygize are Spearmint, Peppermint, Tangerine, and Ginger. Both of these are awesome choices. Tummygize is a part of the KidScents line and is pre-diluted so it may be a better choice for the little ones in your life!
Both of these are great to rub clockwise on your stomach. You can also try Digize Vitality in a capsule, and swallow it like a supplement. Oils with the white labels (vitality) are labeled for internal use, and oils with the regular, colorful labels, are labeled for external use.
A sweet friend of mine shared a Pumpkin Pie Spice diffuser recipe with me. I wanted to share it with you guys because it’s the perfect blend to use when you have people over! It smells amazing and would be a great one to use especially if you’re used to candles! I also love this blend because all these oils are great immune system boosters!
2 drops Clove
2 drops Cinnamon
2 drops Nutmeg
2 drops Ginger
2 drops Orange
There’s a lot of hustle and bustle around the holidays. Extra cooking, cleaning, shopping, and prepping for family can all be stressful!
Did you know Young Living has a ton of emotional support oils, including a bunch that can help with the stress of the holidays?
Stress Away and Tranquil are two YL favorites that can be really helpful when dealing with all the extra crowds and traffic the holidays bring. Bonus: both of these come pre-diluted in these cute roller bottles!
Tranquil has Lavender, Cedarwood, and Roman Chamomile.
Stress Away is a combo of Balsam Copaiba, Lime, Vanilla, Ocatea, and Lavender.
These are both super calming blends; it just depends which one you like/works best for you. Tranquil has a more woodsy/floral aroma, while Stress Away has more of a citrusy/vanilla smell!!
Another one of my favorite oils to apply, especially during this time of year, is Thieves. It’s my go-to this time of year because it boosts my immune system and smells like Christmas!
Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday that celebrates the second Jewish temple being rededicated after the Jews, under the leadership of the Maccabees, successfully revolted against their Greek-Syrian oppressors. Also known as The Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, is a celebration commemorated with food, gifts, and games. The lighting of the menorah is a central part of Hanukkah because it symbolizes the miracle that the oil for the temple lamp lasted eight days when there was only supposed to be enough to last for one!
Just like all great holidays, Hanukkah has some amazing food that goes along with the celebration. Apple sauce and sufganiyot (small jam-filled doughnuts) are both traditional fare during Hanukkah. Both of these dishes would be delicious with the addition of some Vitality oils. Try adding a drop or two of Cinnamon Vitality to your favorite homemade applesauce recipe to give it a little kick; adding some Lemon Vitality to the jam inside the sufganiyot would be super refreshing too!
If you’re looking for a Hanukkah-inspired diffuser recipe, I’ve got your back! This one is called “Festival of Lights,” and it’s amazing!
2 drops Citrus Fresh
2 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce
1 drop Lemon
1 drop Cinnamon Bark
One of my favorite parts about getting ready for Christmas is picking out a tree and decorating it. My family always goes to a tree farm the day after Thanksgiving because that’s when the Christmas season really begins in our family. But even if you’re not able to get a real tree, you can still enjoy the smell of one!
Tree oils are some of my favorites. They smell amazing, and they’re super calming, which we all need this time of year! If you’re looking for that “Christmas tree smell” try Pine or Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oils. You can add them to your diffuser or put a few drops on a wooden ornament for the tree!
I don’t know about you, but I love sipping on a hot drink, especially this time of year. There’s nothing quite as cozy as wrapping up in a blanket and drinking a mug of hot cocoa while watching a Christmas movie!
There are so many different ways you can incorporate Vitality oils into your favorite drinks. Mint and Chocolate is one of my favorite combos, so adding some Peppermint Vitality to hot cocoa is an easy way to treat myself. All you need to do is make your favorite hot chocolate recipe and add a little Peppermint oil. Peppermint is super strong so if you’re only making one mug, try using a toothpick and dipping it into the center hole in the dropper top of your oil bottle and stirring it into your cocoa. If you’re making a bigger batch, for several people, add one drop at a time!
If you’re in the mood for something a little stronger, try this Holiday Toddy recipe! Brew a cup of black tea, then add the juice of 1⁄4 of a lemon, 1 Tbsp. of honey, 1-2 oz. of whiskey or bourbon, and 3-4 drops of Thieves Vitality. Stir while adding all of the ingredients.
Essential oils make great gifts. Whether you buy a Young Living product or use their oils to create something new, your friends are going to love their gift! Presents that come in groups of three are super fun. It gives the receiver a nice variety but won’t break the bank! Young Living has so many awesome oils to choose from! Oregano Vitality, Thyme Vitality, and Rosemary Vitality would make a great gift for the cooks in your life. Lemon, Lime, and Peppermint are another great refreshing trio that would make a great diffuser blend.
Another great way to give the gift of oils, is to make a roller bottle of your favorite oil or blend. Try combining a tree oil, like Cypress, with a citrus oil, like Bergamot.
You can even create blends that fill the needs of the person you’re giving it to. Try making a focus blend with Cedarwood and Vetiver for the mama with school-aged children, or a calming blend with Frankincense and Lavender for the friend in your life who has trouble falling asleep at night. You can find roller bottles and labels on Amazon to put your creations in. Or, if you’re looking for an extra special roller bottle, check out Wood & Oils on Etsy. They’ve got some really cute stuff!
When I remember Christmas as a child, I have so many great memories, including eating cinnamon rolls for breakfast Christmas morning, and doing all the holiday baking with my mom and sisters! These are probably two of my favorite memories because they are associated with great smells, and our sense of smell is more closely tied to our memory than any of our other senses!
Because of this, diffuser blends are a great addition holiday activities and a festive way to set the mood for any gathering. Try this “Candy Cane” blend this year!
4 drops Christmas Spirit or Stress Away (whatever your preference is)
2 drops Wintergreen
If you’re looking for some unique stocking stuffers, Young Living has some pretty awesome and inexpensive choices.
Toothpaste
Hand sanitizer
Lip balm
Lemon Vitality
Peppermint
Unfortunately, with all the holiday gatherings comes the holiday cleanup. I don’t know about you but cleaning up is my least favorite part about the holidays. When I was growing up, we’d always have a big dinner on Christmas Eve. After we were finished eating, it would be the kids’ job to clean up the kitchen, while our parents finished wrapping gifts for the next day. Well, things would get out of hand and our older brother, in true big sibling fashion, would end up slapping us with a wet dish towel.
Back then we hadn’t been introduced to Young Living yet, so we used typical “healthy” cleaning products. Now, we use all things Thieves! Thieves household cleaner concentrate can be used for pretty much everything. You can use it for the counters, the stove, spills on the floor, and every other room in your house. Thieves also has dish soap to help you tackle that post dinner pile that’s stacked next to the sink.
Did you know that with Thieves even your kids can help with the cleanup? Unlike traditional cleaners--and a lot of cleaners that are marketed as “natural”--Thieves is completely safe and doesn’t have any synthetic dyes, fragrances, or other yucky ingredients, so you won’t have headaches, burning lungs, or any of the other side effects that are often associated with cleaning. Thieves cleaning products also smell amazing!
After a busy couple of months, full of fun and celebration, we get to top it all off by ringing in the new year! Once January hits, a lot of people, including myself, like to cleanse from all the over-treating they did over the holidays. Both Ginger Vitality and Lemon Vitality are great tummy-soothers. Try adding a couple drops of each to a glass of warm water if you need a little help from over-indulging the night before.
One great way to help you reach your health goals for 2020, is to incorporate some of Young LIving’s awesome supplements; there are so many great ones to choose from! Whether you need general nutritional supplements, or something for a more targeted issue, YL has something for everyone. Some of my favorites are Multigreens, Super B, and Ningxia Red.
Most of us like to set goals to accomplish in the new year, but staying motivated can be really hard, especially when we get busy. I know several people who like to choose a word to focus on each year and an oil to use each day to go along with it. Emotional support oils tend to be good choices when setting these intentions. Some of my favorites are: Joy, Valor, Believe, and Harmony.
Thank you so much for joining me! I’ve had so much fun hanging out and talking all things oils and holidays.
No matter what holidays you celebrate, Young Living has essential oils as well as other products that can help make the season go a little smoother. Whether you’re looking for immune support, gift ideas, something to spice up your favorite recipes, stress relief, clean up solutions, or just something to make your house smell great, YL’s got your back!
