Typical types of names

From the research I have done into the names of already existing and established slasher horror films, the typical types of names that slasher horror films tend to be either fairly long or just one or two words but they tend to be informative.

For example, 'The Texas Chain Saw Massacre' tells you where the film is set, what sort of weapon is used and the fact that it involves mass murder. Another example is 'Psycho', this is a short one-worded title, however we are still told something about the film.

Analysis of existing names

Ideas for our film title

  • Who's There?

  • Body Count
  • Bloody Nightmare
  • This is how you die

our film title

For our film title, we have decided to choose 'Who's There?'. We chose this title because, much like the title I have researched it gives the audience something to think about and questions to ask, such as, "Who is it the title is referring to?", "Who is it that is asking the question?" or "What has made the person/people ask the question?". It is also a short title, like 'Psycho' which does not give too much away and leaves the audience expecting something to happen. Finally, from the resons given, you are able to see that the title follows the convention of typical horror film titles.
