Another reason that the shirt was chosen for this shoot was the influences from other indie artists such as Rat Boy. We decided to use other artists as inspiration for the styling of our main image. The print on the shirt we chose is not a typical shirt print and will stand out and draw the audiences attention. People who generally listen to indie music will have a preconceived idea of what an indie artist will look like. Having our main character in this outfit then lets the audience know the genre from the start.
This shot is of our main actor in our music video. We have chosen to place him in this outfit to re –instate the idea that there is a stereotype associated with this particular genre of music. For this we decided to put Sam in an ‘old-fashioned’ shirt. The signifier of the shirt signified the idea that he is in an indie music group and listens to music of the indie/alternate genre.
colours
The colour red signifieds danger, but also love. The song that we chose for our music video is about both of these concepts. We wanted the colours to them match with the meaning and the lyrics of the song. 'penelope' was his energy at first and they were in love however, she then became very dangerous for him and this is why we chose red as our main base colour.
Alternatively yellow is associated with being happy and joyous and we chose to add this colour to the digipack not only as a contrast colour but to show the overall message of the song, that he is trying to be happy without the girl in his life.
The colours we chose for our music video was red and yellow. These are two very different colours that have very different signifieds.
backgrounds
The first location was an abandoned trunk in the middle of a field with graffiti on it. This signifieds 'rebel' and not really caring about anything or anyone else.
The colours we chose for our music We used three different backgrounds in the entirety of our video. Two were outside location shots and one shot was in the studio with the lights and effects.
