Analysis of three Existing ancillary work
So i was looking into some artists within pop and elctro-pop artists to see how the market themselves within there ancillary work. All the following artists are female and similar genres.
Rihanna
Rihanna's Loud album features a three panel digipak and it sure starts off with a bang, the use of the red throughout the digpiak and the ad just stands out for the audience also with the very simple font used. These relate to the audience as the audience is a pop based fan base and the same with the genre. The fact that the album title is bigger then her name is due to her face being recognised world wide and so the even if the album cover didn't have her name it would still sell off a huge amount. Which in the ad Rihanna is bigger as the artist will attract the audience and not the album itself. I'll be using the idea of a small colour palette and probably the colour white for the font.
Ellie Goulding
Ellie Goulding's album features a two panel digipak. The use of the colour scheme instantly goes to it's audience and the genre, the use of the gold, black and white have a very electropop/pop feel to them and catches the eye. With this album cover as it was one of Ellie Goulding's first albums, her name is bigger than the album name due to wanting to be recognised which i'll be following in my digpak. The black and white work with the text in the ad i think i'll also be interpreting into my work.
Katy perry
Katy Perry's album features a three panel digipak. The album cover and ad has influences mainly from her smash hit 'California Gurls' with the cupcakes, donughts and the candyfloss clouds which attracts both its audience and the genre of pop. Also, There is a use of a colour palette which relates to candy and confectionary. The use of the candyfloss clouds leading onto the back as a panoramic picture is something which i'd like to interpret into my ancillary work.
