Explain

Value is the main tenant of negotiations. The central tension of a negotiation is between value creation and value division. Value can be found in differences.

  • logrolling - trading across issues
  • pareto optimal - point at which one party's well being cannot be improved without hurting others

Importance

  • Thinking about differential value is the only way to come out of a negotiation satisfied.
