Who are they?
Bauer Media is a UK based division of Bauer Media Groups that derives from one of Europe's largest media empires. In summary, the Group is renowned for its publication of 300 magazines in 15 countries - varying from online presence to radio to TV.
Company history:
The company's inception started as a small printing house in Germany. It was in 1987, after the establishment of Bella magazine, that Bauer Media Group entered the UK market. It wasn't long after before the company became the UK's third largest publishing company. After five generations of management under the Bauer family, the company has purchased:
- Emap Radio and Emap Consumer Media (2008)
- ACP Magazines (2012)

Kerrang!
Kerrang magazine prides itself in providing its audience the latest updates in rock culture and music - as you can see from the featured artist's quote and interview. From their website, it seems that their target audience are mainly teenagers who are passionate about bands and the variation of music and genre that exists within rock. Moreover, the magazine features informal language which easily relates to the youth that the magazine aims to appeal to.

Closer magazine focuses on a lot of gossip amongst celebrity culture and features a lot of "feminine articles" that concerns body image. It is quite evident that it aims to attract a 20+ female demographic. Its features include topics on weight, cosmetic surgery, breakups and etc. It is also quite feminine in terms of colour scheme and the language used creates a personal appeal due to its informal language.
