bauer media
"Bauer Media UK reaches over 22 million UK consumers every week through a portfolio of world-class, multi-platform media and entertainment brands"
Bauer Media also manages Kerrang! which is a very a successful, long running rock music magazine. With their success and experience, my magazine would be guaranteed a good start and be exposed to a vast audience (especially with their connections in Australia). The variety of magazines that they manage but lacking a PBRB magazine means they need one to expand their prospective consumers.
EVALUATION 4
From my initial survey
the audience were likely to be females
(However, in spite the main focus being on the female audience, I do not want this to limit people consuming my product. Hence, the magazine doesn't feature a very female oriented style. It is available for anyone and everyone that likes to listen to alternative RnB/PBRB)
In general, they are likely to be:
16-20 YEAR OLDS:
These are people that are midway between being a teen and an adult. Most are still in education. Stereotypically, young adults are carefree people that are still on the path of "finding" themselves. However, they are old enough to know what their likes and dislikes are.
SOCIAL MEDIA USERS:
Very active on the social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Tumblr. Through these media platforms, the audience gets to be updated instantaneously by their favourite artists or the digital word of mouth (hashtags, trends, etc...)
LIFESTYLE:
As explained, these are the type of people that like to spend time on the internet. These people might be not in the same extremes as hipsters, however, they do tend to be fashionable (shopping in Topshop, etc.). These are the type of people who either party or stay at home blogging and some probably smoking weed. Either way, they're all diverse: either you're mellow or you party to it.

IMAGE
An appropriate selection of images were carefully chosen via the contact sheets in order to meet the PBRB standard that represents the genre well but to also help create some form of interest so the audience can easily notice it and buy the magazine. Interesting pictures create a vital role in, not only representing the genre, but capturing potential readers with no words needed to say or to be read.
Though I used quite a formal language (not too formal or else it wont appeal to the younger half), I also used some slight informalities in my double page spread to relate to my audience..I could've maintained a personal and informal stance throughout, however, this may be seen as "unprofessional" for an article and may lose some appeal to the older audience. I had to maintain a balance in order to create some impersonal yet personal relationship with my target audience

LAYOUT
Layout is important in bringing and fusing all the images and text together. Although I could improve the structure of my magazine, I think it is vital to create some sort of order that represents the varied degrees of importance of certain articles/people. For example, placing the anchorage of AYESHA across her picture shows who is featured and it visually represents the content of the article: the artist's anonymity. This creates some interest for the reader, as they can interpret it in many ways.
The PBRB genre is predominantly dominated by African American artists. I wanted to use this stereotype so people can easily identify the genre - however, I also wanted to include a counter stereotype so people will be intrigued but interested at the same time. I also featured mainly females here, as it is also dominated by males half the time. This means that people will be even more intrigued to check out the odds of this magazine using unconventional representatives of PBRB.
EVALUATION 6
BLOGGING
I have maintained a personal blog for a couple of years now. However, I never realised that I'll ever be using it for educational purposes too! I learnt that blogging is an easy way of publishing and accessing your work on the go and anywhere; this makes everything easier to manage and complete. If I wasn't able to finish work in school, I can easily finish it all of at home.
Another key feature with blogging is that I was able to utilise various online applications that enhanced the presentation of my work (so that it doesn't look boring but still functions to be informative). These apps also enabled me to create an organised and neat collection of presentations - thanks to these guys!
slides, visme, Prezi, PhotoSnack, emaze, Glogger, Pinterest, Piktochart and spiderscribe
camera
I had to learn it this way that the art of photography is harder than it looks. You cannot just grab a good camera and snap away, thinking that its inbuilt features will do all the work - I had to manipulate (unsuccessfully) light, focus and shutterspeed to capture "good" photos. If I had the appropriate skills and talent with the camera, I could've made better shots. I also didn't think wisely about the types of shots used; as some shots are better suited for DPS than others. To improve, I feel like I should've experimented with various angles and learnt to manipulate the camera more to its full advantage. However, my contact sheets shows the development of my shots and with that, I learnt which pictures were more suited for my magazine.
internet
The internet provided me all the resources I needed for this magazine to happen. It gave me my sources of inspiration after countless hours of randomly surfing the net; it provided me with information I needed to answer my coursework questions and finally, helped me finish this whole thing off!
The internet is more vast than I thought it was too: whenever I had a really odd technical problem, it had the answers. Using the internet has given me an easier time to complete this all off, paired with its amazing guidance and quick research tools.
APPLICATIONS
(InDesign & Photoshop)
It took quite a while to adjust to use these two. Partly because this type of digital artistry is not really my forte; however, after playing around with it, I eventually got around and learnt the tricks soon.
I used various tools from Drop Shadow to the Healing Brush to create flawless images (at the request of my models, of course) and to give some 3D effect, which makes certain mastheads and anchorage pop out more and be noticeable off the page. Meanwhile, InDesign was more complicated. It had a lot of extra steps you needed to consider, more buttons to use and more caution so that you don't leave unwanted marks on your final design. I found this very hard to work with, especially for the DPS, but luckily I had guidance from my teachers and peers to help me develop my work.
MACS
What is the mystery and complication with Macs? PC all the way.
It's probably because a majority of us spent the whole of our lifetimes having PCs and I assumed that there were existing universal codes and shortcuts that all technology followed. However, Macs just had to make life a little harder by being a little bit different. There's no hashtag key either. What is that? I was so confused.
With the complaints aside, Macs became easier to use after a week or two once I learnt how to get 'round the controls of it all.
EVALUATION 7
From my preliminary Task
I didn't really learn much of the technical stuff from my preliminary task (as I started a month or so late); the only thing I learnt from those tasks were the features of a magazine and what I had to follow when planning and creating my own magazine. Though I think it's better that I learnt most things during the creation of my magazine, as it meant that whenever I made mistakes, I knew where I went wrong and had the chance to correct it myself. And I also had those good spontaneous moments of creating something good out of random actions or when I discovered a tool that made a really good element. It was a good learning experience for me, and although it would've been greater for me to have had more experience and exposure to the technical aspects of the task, I personally think it's all good and I put my 110% in all my work!
