Horror trailers

In horror trailers and films, it is commonly known not to include famous actors. This is because it distracts audiences from the storyline and decreases realism.

 Horror is also known for having small budgets therefore they may not have enough money to hire A-list actors. 

The Woman In Black 2

Although using Daniel Radcliffe, The women in black decided to use non-celebrity actors and directors such as Tom Harper and Phoebe Fox. This created the storyline more realistic as it looks like an average everyday person. Moreover, The women in black 2 also had a small budget of £1 million therefore It was not in their reach to hire someone such as Christopher Lee. 

Crimson Peak 

Crimson peak challenges the idea of not using celebrities  to gain audiences, this film includes actors such as Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam. Having a large production company such as Legendary pictures allows the creators to be more flexible in their decisions for example picking actors and locations. Moreover, being part of a conglomerate means a bigger budget, Crimson peak had a budget of £55 million. 

Creating a horror trailer

In the process of creating a horror trailer we have decided to adopt some characteristics of The women in black as we can relate due to the low budget, little access to high end actors and a wide competition.  

One way we can do this is by using public locations where we can film for free, ask departments of the school for resources and bring together a small group of friends to act in the trailer.
