ADDICTS

Computer games, the Internet and social networks addiction problem is constantly growing bigger. In the last few years, Croatian hospitals started to open special wards for treating the mentioned addictions that are also becoming more popular as literature and film topics.

The short film that we watched on 15 November as part of the activity  "Time for school film is called "The addicts". The topic of the film, that was made by students from elementary school Večeslava Holjevca from Zagreb, are computer games and Internet addictions.

The main character of the film is Zdenko. He is a therapist who is leading group therapies, but at the end of the film, we discover that he is also an addict and that he has 4 smartphones.

I liked the authors' approach to this film because they have decided to talk about this serious problem, but put it in the comedy genre. The action of the film is set in one psychotherapeutic group that is usually seen in films which are dealing with alcohol and other addictions. My opinion is that their film is a parody of those addiction films and that turned out very successful. I think that the film is encouraging us to think about this new form of addiction.
