Donnie Darko
A troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large bunny rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes, after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident.

Location & Mise En Scene
There are a variety of locations in the opening scene of Donnie Darko. These include: the school, the bus, hallway, lockers, outside learning space and the classroom.
Every student must wear a uniform. At the beginning of the video clip we see three students wearing their uniform the appropriate way, their shirts tucked in and carrying their school books. However, a binary opposition is another kid having his shirt unbuttoned and being very slouchy and which shows that he's careless unlike the other boys.
Having each student customise their uniform a different way shows their individuality and the school dynamics.
The scene ends with the students standing next to their lockers to collect their books in time for their class with the new teacher.
Editing & Camera
The camera angle begins sideways. It starts to eventually slow down to allow the audience to analyse and identify the characters in the movie. Medium shots were used to show the body language. Halfway through the short clip, a tracking shot was used to follow the characters through the corridor until an important/ interesting character is shown in their everyday school life.
The camera was used well in terms of showing the contrast between students and teachers because, the specific camera angles highlight their body language and actions.
Characters
-
Three boys which are very normal, fit the crowd, wearing a one strap. These three boys then have a stare down with the badass, which can either show disgust or envy.
- The bad boy has a mullet, does drugs by the locker which shows that he doesn't care about the teachers and their policies. He is portrayed as the bully.
- The teacher is represented as a very strict character which often stares at students.
- The Pretty Girl who constantly looks at herself in the mirror, we think that she is quite popular and wants attention. She may bully the outcast girls later on in the movie.
- We see Drew Barrymore as the teacher and judging by her body language we can predict that she doesn't care and is quite laid back.
