how did you attract/address your audience?

mY MAIN IMAGE ON MY COVER

The main image on my cover is of a well established artist, pictured in designer clothing whilst posing as a typical hip hop artist does.

I have aimed to make my artist appear relatable whilst still meeting the criteria of poses, costuming and attitude of a stereotypical rap artist.

I have also used a medium-close shot size to enable the audience to acknowledge the artists' eye contact with them- this almost makes them feel involved in the magazine therefore encouraging them to invest in it.

my masthead

The masthead of BASE is in a bright red font which gradually fades to white towards the bottom. The vibrant red colour is typically seen in a hip hop magazine and stands out against the white part of the cover's background.

BASE is also a well suited name for the magazine as I feel it connects to the hip hop genre of music as heavy base is used often in most songs within the industry.

The simplicity of the magazines title attracts the audience as it is memorable and also links to the genre of music.

The audience may also be attracted by the gradient effect of a gradual transition of red to white as it gives the magazine a professional finish.

cover lines

There are a lot of cover lines on my front page to attract my audience. I think the audience will be attracted to the larger cover lines as they may be fans of the artists featured within the magazine.

They may also be attracted to cover lines that give brief description of the contents of the magazine- which includes things the target young male and female audience would be interested in.

THE SKYLINE

I have included a skyline on my magazine cover as it is a convention of many music magazines- especially hip hop.

This is also an aspect of the magazine that may attract the target audience as it gives yet another insight into the content of the magazine as well as mentioning famous artists.

The vibrant red used for the artist names attracts the audience as it stands out against the white background.

COstume

Throughout the magazine, each artist featured represent different fashions of the hip hop industry.

The main artist represents looks including casual street wear and designer clothing on the front page. This attracts the audience as he is sporting casual street wear that they like and designer clothing they aspire to have.

A female artist is featured on the contents page displaying the more glamorous side of fashion within the hip hop industry and a male artist is displaying the business aspect of hip hop and how fame through music can lead to business opportunities that many rap artists featured in hip hop magazines today speak of.

colour scheme

I have used a colour scheme that is typically featured in a hip hop magazine. The colour scheme consists of vibrant colours such as red and white, as well as basic colours like black and grey.

The consistency of the colour scheme used throughout my magazine is attractive to the audience as it makes the magazine appear neat, ordered and professional as colours that complement each other and are used typically within this genre are featured.
