OPEN CLUB DAY

SATURDAY, 2 FEBRUARY 2019

SECOND EUROPEAN EDITION

On the Open Club Day, live music venues & clubs all over Europe open their doors on the same day during daytime.

They invite the audience to discover what is happening behind the scenes - the daily bread and butter of the people working in a club, but usually inaccessible to the broad audience.

The Open Club Day allows strengthening the connection of the venues & clubs with their local communities.

At the same time, it connects local stages all over Europe in a strong solidarity movement that reaffirms their importance as cultural, economic, and social actors

WHY DO THE OPEN CLUB DAY ?

Connect with your audience

The Open Club Day is a great opportunity to engage with your audience and to welcome new people to your  club.

Create dialogue

By inviting people in a different context you create the circumstances to address issues that are important for you.

Clearing up negative stereotypes

The Open Club Day allows to highlight the work accomplished inside the venue and club. By showing the work of your venue or club in a different light, you can help clearing up negative stereotypes that might be running around.

Gain recognition for the work you do

Use the Open Club Day to show off the amazing work you are doing on a daily basis (from talent detection, over artist support, up to educational and communal activities). Show that it takes a variety of professions in order to run a venue or club.

Benefit from a positive communication campaign

Draw attention of the local press and media on topics that are important for you besides your live music programming. Benefit from a large communication campaign on the Open Club Day on a European scale.

OPEN CLUB DAY

ACTIVITIES

GUIDED CLUB TOURS

Each tour is guided by either a staff member, a volunteer, an artist, or a technician and leads through the different spaces explaining their activities in the venue.

ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS & FAMILIES

You could give kids the opportunity to give sound and light balancing a try with the supervision of a trained staff or volunteer. You could also make the tour through your venue more kid and family friendly by turning it into a treasure hunt.

SHOW OFF THE TALENTS OF YOUR CLUB

Let the public know that your club is run by a talented team and that your residency artists are amazing. Small workshops could be an introduction to DJ-ing or a crash-course in preparing cocktails.

CLUB SAFARI!

CONNECT WITH OTHER CLUBS IN YOU AREA

Give the venues and clubs of your city a call and see if you can organize a club safari, a guided tour that leads through the different clubs and venues of your city. You can also get in touch with your venues and club association for support.

TALKS & PANEL DISCUSSIONS

You can use the Open Club Day as opportunity to invite your local authorities and politicians and ask them the questions that interest you the most.

In Zurich, the local club & bar commission dedicated a panel on a new safety protocol and they also questioned politicians from different parties on their agendas for nightlife and club-culture.

PUBLIC GIG

SET-UP

If your venue hosts a gig or event, why not make the installation public and explain a little about the installation process.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE ?
