Sikh Panth’s Rehat Maryada Book by Bhai Manvir Singh Khalsa

Bhai Manvir Singh Khalsa has been congratulated for writing a book on the history of Rehat Maryada of the Sikh Panth, also known as Akal Takht Rehat Maryada and Panthic Rehat Maryada. The Sikh World Parliament together with the Khalsa Foundation, the British Sikh Student Organization (BOSS), and United Sikhs, among other Sikh organizations, released this book on the Sikh Rehat Maryada that has been written by UK-born Bhai Manvir Singh.

This book is the first book of its kind written by a Western-born Sikh that explores and manifests the official document of the Sikh code of conduct in English that was originally published in 1936.

Bhai Manpreet Singh, General Secretary of the Sikh World Parliament, said that this book is written by Bhai Manvir Singh is a thoughtful and research-based text, a progressive guide to Sikh Rehat Maryada designed to help Sikh generations know and follow the key principles of the Sikh way of life, citing historical evidence and findings.

Referring to the purpose and intent of the book, Bhai Manpreet Singh added: "Sikh Rehat Maryada was written by Sikh scholars to develop unity and integration within the Panth and this book is an explanation of the same spirit of unanimity."

The Sikh Rehat Maryada document has been recognized and used as an official reference point for over 80 years by the Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Panthik institutions. The 388-page hardcover book, entitled "The Sikh Rehat Maryada: History, Guiding Principles, and a Contextual Translation", not only provides a modern and fresh contextual translation of the original Sikh Rehat Maryada document, but also includes later editions over time.

The Sikh Rehat Maryada is written by Manvir Singh Leamington after more than a decade of research. The Sikh Rehat Maryada is one of the most influential documents written in the early twentieth century. This book is a must for all Sikhs and non-Sikhs who wish to understand the history of the Sikh code of Conduct (Sikh Rehat Maryada), gaining knowledge about how it was formed and why Sikh scholars.

It also contains a copy of the original Sikh Rehat Maryada and the most up-to-date one published by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for readers to view the Punjabi versions.
