QUESTION 4- WHO WOULD BE YOUR AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

MY AUDIENCE:

My target audience is young students of whom are currently studying music or music related subjects at university or collages in the UK. The emphasis must be on classical music, as this is the genre of my magazine. My audience must all have a shared interest in classical music, and be of an understanding ability to understand technological references that link with classical music. For that reason although my target audience may be younger than the stereotypical audience of classical music, my target audience must be old enough to have the skills needed to understand the technical references in my magazine, for example the name capriccio comes from the musical term of a lively piece of music, typically one that is short and free in form. Therefore my audience must be of a specific musical ability to even be able to understand the name of my magazine, let alone the content and so this restricts younger musician’s ability to access my product. This therefore makes my product specific to my target audience. Thai m of my magazine, is to share classical musical knowledge as well as using classical music industry highlights to entertain and provoke interests in the minds of my audience. My magazine target audience is of the lifestyle category ‘Innovators’ this is because of the professionalism of the magazine and the age and lifestyle of my target audience; that is university students currently indulging in 3 years of classical musical studies, it is presumed that they want to take Their interest in classical music further and therefore make a mark on the world with the use of Their talent. Therefore this is emphasised in my magazine, as it is shown through the technological musical terms, which are challenging and of a high standard, emphasising the importance of success. Also my use of celebrity endorsement acts as a role model, of future aspirations and people of whom have placed Their mark on the world by using their musical ability to gain attraction, and so will entice innovators, of whom may see these celebrities as icons of whom they aspire to be like.

MY SALES CATERGORY:

My sales categories are A3, as my target audience are adults between the ages of 16 and 34, as they are currently around that age of 18-22 studying music at university, however more specifically I can narrow down my target audience to category of w3, of which represents women between the ages of 16 and 34. This is because although my magazine broadly appeals to both genders of whom are studying music at university, more specifically the magazine components are that which stereotypical will attract females rather than males. This is demonstrated through a rather feminine colour scheme, with a large range of pinks and yellows used, which are stereotypically associated with females, and also the use of a female aspiration model, which would encourage females to buy the magazine more than males. In addition women are more likely to study music at university than men, and this again emphasises my female target audience rather than my male target audience. The musical technological references in my magazine, will also attract my target audience of whom, being students will want to richen their musical knowledge and gain as much support with their studies as possible, therefore the range of references made in my magazine are not understandable for the younger or less skilled audience and so my magazine is specific to my target audience. Furthermore the sharing of magazine news over social media, adds a more modern twist on classical music genre, and again appeals to my specific target audience of whom spend more than 30 hours a week on the internet, and so have easy access to the magazine, which will make them more inclined to read it. Therefore my magazine is appropriate for my specific target audience.
