Elegy for April: Evaluation

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

When thinking of a media institution to distribute our film, we knew our distributor would need to have had prior experience with our genre and given that our film takes place within Ireland. If we were to distribute our product we knew that the company which would distribute our product would have to have ties to the United Kingdom. However, due to the independent nature of the film and the subject it is likely that large film distributors such as 20th century fox or universal would not distribute our product.

However companies such as Artificial Eye or Arrow Films are likely to as they are all independent film distributors who have all had experience within the neo-noir genre distributing films such as crimes of passion, Crime and punishment. For our final product we decided that Artificial eye would be a suitable distributor to place within our film due to the fact they are based in the united kingdom unlike Arrow films who are a scandanavian distributor.

We also chose Artificial Eye as they are a part of the Curzon World a conglomerate of film distributors with strong links not only to physical distribution but also to online distribution sites such as iTunes, Amazon and even have their own in house video on demand service Curzon Home cinema. In conclusion i believe that an independent film distributor such as artificial eye would be the most likely to distribute our film given their location and past distributing history.
