Evaluation Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
During my research into other magazines of the genre I learned that the fonts the used typically had a distressed/destroyed style which matched the rebellious aesthetic they were trying to portray. I decided to employ this style as well, which would attract my audience as it is the types of fonts that are used in magazines and other merchandise of this genre, so by using them in my own product fans of that genre will be able to understand the connotations and thus be attracted to my product.

My model is dressed as a stereotypical metal fan, which would appeal to my target audience and demonstrate that my product is associated with that genre. The shirt the model is wearing also helps to enhance this effect as it is promoting a popular metal band, which would also help to attract fans of that band and demonstrate the type of genre my product is. It would also result in fans supporting the character my model is portraying and identifying with them, linking in with Propp's 'Hero' archetype employed by the media to attract audiences.

The bands which are featured here are popular metal bands with a large fan base, so by including these types of cultural codes on the cover I can attract fans of those bands and demonstrate what genre my product is. Enigma codes are embedded in the sub-headings in order to generate interest and therefore draw the audience in.

The incorporation of technology via the use of social media and websites appeals to my target audience who are young people. In my research I learned that my target audience typically spend over 4 hours a day on the internet, usually via social media, so by featuring this in my product I appeal to my audience and show that my product is working in accordance with the current trends of the Technological Age.

From my research I learned that my target audience typically only spend between £1 and £4 on music magazines. In order to utilise this research and attract my audience I made the price of my product quite low.
