IT is dominated by men

In 2016 in Switzerland,
89% of the "IT specialists and analysts" were men
But why?
- Gender construction pushing women towards non-scientific domains
- Job stereotyping, reinforced by the actual men/women imbalance
- Hiring discrimination (conscious or not)
- Sexism (on the workplace + at school)
- Lack of role models
- And many other factors...
Women are excluded from a domain that is shaping our everyday lives
Django Girls is a non-profit which goal is to empower women by giving them a hands-on experience with programming
They provide resources to help organizing programming workshops dedicated to people with no prior experience
Since 2014, the Django Girls community organized
845 events in 494 cities in 98 countries, allowing 19'567 women to attend
In 2018, we decided we would organize a
Django Girls workshop in Lausanne
