Taylor Swift - 22

Mise en scene

Lipstick is used here on the artist to make her look more attractive. Lip stick is usually used on female artists as it enhances the way their appearance is and it is seen as quite
sexy.

The positioning of Taylor is in the middle of the screen, even
with all her friends around her, this may be used to show the
icon she is within the group and also her importance
within the friendship group.

High key lighting was also used, this has been used for
the artist perception. With high key lighting it makes us
assume that the artist has a bright personality and is a happy
person. It also makes her seem innocent, whereas if it was low  we may suggest that she was a rather dull person.

This could be seen as where low key lighting has been used as the colors have been slightly saturated to the point where it seems as she has a split personality. This is because in the image of my example of high key lighting i stated that it could have made her look innocent with all the white colours and the brightness of the shot. In this shots it seems to me that the saturated colours were used on purpose to show that there are two sides to her and here she is partying and seems like a party hard person.

Camerawork

This is a tight frame whereby there is no room of space within
the frame as other people are taking it up. This is used
to show the importance of the artist and possibly the sense
of leadership that she may have within that friendship group.

This shot can be used again to analyse the camerawork. A high angle has been used which makes the artist seem innocent in contrast to the fact that she is at a party whereby people usually drink and get drunk.

Here a close up is used with the artist using direct eye contact with the camera, making it seem that she is looking directly at the viewer. This is used to make the viewer feel as if the artist is aiming their lyrics at the person watching the video. This is a good way for the artist to interact with their audience as it does genuinely seem as if the artist is looking at you
Editing

Montage editing is used whereby more that one location is used to film the music video. This is used so that the viewer of the video doesn't get bore looking at one shot for many seconds as it would seem as if the shots are just dragging on and it would lure the viewer away from watching the video.

The editing of the takes within the music video flows with the way the beat of the song is flowing. In the video when the artist is singing her verses the takes of the video are slightly slower when the chorus comes on the chorus is more exiting

therefore it results in the editing becoming more exciting.

A lot of short takes are also used to go with the beat as it enabled the editing to go at the pace of the beat and what was happening on the screen.
