In what ways does your media products use, develop, or challenge the form and convetions of real media products?
Digipak and website
My digipak
I think that my digipak follow the forms and conventions of real media produts
One of the conventions of digipaks from the same R&B / House genre especially among female artists is the use of close ups of the artist within the cover of the digipak. Here are some examples...
On my digipak you can see that I had also used close up on the front cover
Another form and conventions of digipaks is the use of clear simple text
On my digipak you can see that the text 'Haze' is done using a simple white font and is larger than the actual album name.
As you can see on this Ella Henderson album you can see that 'Ella' is done using a clear white stylised font.
Also another convention is the name of the artist being a lot more larger than the album name. This is done to promote the artists
Also most digipaks tend to not use any more than 3 colours. This is clearly shown on Rita Ora's album 'ORA' which uses only the colours black, white, and red.
As you can see my digipak only 2/3 colours. With varying shades of pink/red as my main colour and white texts.
Digipaks also tend not to use more than 2 different types of fonts.
My digipak only uses the Americana font and stylized 'HAZE' font.
All digipaks need to include tracklistings, barcodes, copyright info, and record company
On my digipak you can see that I have included all of the above on the back cover
Digipaks should also have a style which should also clearly reflect the genre from which that artist belongs to
Digipaks from the house / R&B genre tend to be quite colourful. Here are some examples....
Therefore I also decided to make my digipak colourful and vibrant
My website
I also think that my website follows the forms and conventions of real media products also
Artists websites tend to menu bar with links such as News, Bio, Tour dates, Music , Videos, Contact and so much more
My website also uses similar links.
Here is an example from Jessie J's website
On artists websites there also tends to be more texts than images on websites. A clear example of this is Ella Erye's site
Again, my artists' website also exhbits this.
On these websites there is also a clear synergy link with all of the artists media products.
I have chosen to do this by using the same, background, colour scheme, and font.
