Hello and thank you for taking the time to explore my video portfolio! I’m Michel Mölder, and I’m passionate about creativity, especially when it pushes me out of my comfort zone. I thrive on (technical) challenges, and that’s when my work truly shines.

I started out as a cameraman for TV, shooting mostly travelshows like 3 Op Reis. While I also fell in love with photography and cinemagraphs my enthusiasm for video remains strong. I actively direct and shoot video projects for which I love to work with new techniques.

Inside this deck you can find my regular video work both as director and as a dop. But you can also find my new love for virtual productions and motion control.

As a bit of a perfectionist, I thrive in a studio environment, and working with Scraps Studio is the perfect fit. This collaborative collective of industry professionals blends expertise in directing, cinematography, on-set VFX, virtual productions, and robotics.

Together, we create visuals that are greater than the sum of our parts. From the initial spark of an idea to the final frame, our in-house team brings a keen eye for detail and a touch of nerdiness to every project. We aim to craft visuals that not only grab your attention but also leave you wondering, “How did they even do that?”

VIRTUAL PRODUCTION

In a virtual production, we combine the controlled environment of the studio with a digital background. Any movement of the camera in the studio is instantly connected to the digital background through live tracking. This means that as the camera moves, the digital world moves perfectly in sync.

VIRTUAL PRODUCTION

By doing this, we can create the illusion of shooting in different places—whether it's a city, a forest, or even outer space—while staying in the studio. This gives us the flexibility to film anywhere, anytime, without leaving the comfort of the controlled studio environment.

CINEMAGRAPHS

I’ve always loved the magic of mixing video with still images, there’s something mesmerizing about a moment that loops endlessly in a static frame. Cinemagraphs are a big part of my photography, but they fit just as naturally into my video work.

When you string a few cinemagraphs together in a longer video, it creates this really cool flow; each moment feels complete on its own, but together, they build a kind of quiet rhythm. It’s a subtle way to pull people in, letting them experience each scene at their own pace.

What started as a career in TV has turned into a visual journey where moving and still images blend seamlessly.

I love video, but my enthusiasm for photography hasn’t gone anywhere. I’m actively involved in commercial projects and always looking for new ways to bring my ideas to life.
