PREVIOUS STUDENT VIDEO
By Monika
As I was looking at some previous student music videos from a critical point of view and it helped me to understand what the aim of the coursework as well as learn from the mistakes they made.
I particularly enjoyed one of the videos which in my opinion was the most successful and most professional outcome. The students who made this video put a lot of effort into their planning, performance and mostly editing. This video falls into high criteria, as the students knew what they were doing and planned everything well, they managed to succeed in their portfolio coursework project by scoring full marks.
This is the video of previous student project that I liked the most.

I really like the transitions they made from one shot to another, for example here one of the characters throws flower onto a grave, the camera is lowered down so that it could be shot from the perspective as if someone in the grave would see it. After the flowers fall onto the camera and covers the lens another shot takes place. The camera is now tilted from pavement upwards to reveal a medium shot of another character.

Another transition that I took a notice of was after the chorus part, when the camera was panning from the character to the wall on the road and then transitioned to the panning shot of the wall in a room to the person sitting on a sofa. This was a precise continuity editing - it looked as if it was taken in one shot (as if the camera panned from one character to the person sitting on the sofa).
When creating my own video, I will try to use transition techniques similar to this one as it will make it look more profesional and will also help me achieve higher standards.
This video also used some filters (sofa scene) - I will also consider using filters as it creates a great effect on the mood of the video.
Moreover, I was considering to do rap video myelf so this is an excellent example to look at to get inspiration for producing my product.
