Assignment 50: Costume, Props and Make up.

Costume:

With there being only two people in the music video, they will have different outfits for different parts of the music video. All will have a different feel and the audience should be able to easily guess what the person is representing through their clothing. for example, when they're going on a formal date, They will wear something smart and to impress the other person. and we can emphasise this by them looking into a mirror and having them check everything is immaculate. I will lookout other Artists similar to what we are looking for and take inspiration from them.

Michael Buble: Havent met you yet.

In this music video, Michael Buble is shown in a supermarket and bumping into a lady, Then throughout the video it shows them doing specific things Like going for a coffee date and resting in bed with each other.

Michael Buble's Costume:

In the video, His costume is basic in terms of what he wears in the past and present, which are mostly suits, and can even show theres a different side of Michael buble than just a smart dressed up man. His costume shows that he is still dressed smart casual clothes. 

Michael Buble's featured actresS:

Her costume in this video  is simple and basic, Like Michaels, and it is meant to represent how common people might find a relationship in real life, however making it very cliche to meet in a convenient place. With Denim jeans and a Black leather coat and a lose top is very pedestrian because its easy to wear. The costumes don't change in this music video which shows the spark of the moment

My idea of what i want our actors to look like:

In our music video, We are going to have different scenes to do with the main events of the year. For example, Christmas, New Years, Birthdays, Anniversary etc. all of these will have different costumes but the base track will have the same costume due to it being outside. I will be dressing according to season and even the location. For example, if its in the house, then we will sort out loungewear for them to wear around the house to give it an everyday vibe.

My idea of what i want our actors to look like: Base Track 1

This will be shot outside showing the artist going to a location to meet up with the date. so we will need to dress the Actor accordingly with a Coat, a Jumper and skinny jeans with either trainers or smart shoes like a pair of Chelsea Boots. I will either have the colour scheme Monochrome based or earthy tones like Kahki, Tan and Brown. I will also have the accessories, like a belt match the colour of the shoes to make it appeal to the audience due to the costume looking better and smart. With the two different outfits, I either want to take a casual or smart approach to get two different opinions on our artist.

Our costume for our  featured actresS:

I would like our featured actress to have a different costume in every base track where she is featured in. It shows she has good taste in clothes with having them change every so often but also this can help show that time is passing buy the indication of new clothes. However, for base track 1, I would like her to wear one piece of clothing similar to the Artist to indicate a bond between them. This can be a Jacket or the same colour jeans. However, the rest I would like to be simple with a pair of blue jeans, White shoes, a loose top and a few accessories like a necklace, rings and a handbag.

Indoor base tracks:

When it's just the two actors in the house, I would like them to wear loungewear for certain events. like Christmas and Easter. this shows that they are both comfortable with each other and indicates a relaxed nature between the both of them.  I would like the artist to wear a plain white top with either checked pyjama bottoms or Pyjama bottoms with little graphics on them.  The Check would help with the continuity of the USP. With the Actress I would like her to wear some pyjama bottoms with a pyjama top to fit into the scene. I prefer pyjama bottoms over track suit bottoms due to pyjama bottoms looking more relaxed and early morning esque.

Indoor base tracks:

However,on New years I would like them to be dressed up for the occasion due to them having friends around.  So they can be Smartly dressed or they can be dressed to be around friends and family. It can also show how the dress when with certain members of friends. and to dress smartly on new years is to help emphasise tradition at parties on new years eve to dress smartly for the occasion. However, I would like the couple to dress casually but smart attire to balance both tradition and casual dress.

public base tracks:

With the public base tracks, I will need to take into account of  the locations it is being shot in. For example, when were shooting on their formal date, we will have to take into consideration of dress code. Due to formal dates being smart and being located where its expensive, we will have to dress casually but smart to fit with the location. In the Coffee shops, I would like to dress casually and very pedestrian because it is to fit the location and the setting.  I suggest for the second meet up in the coffee shop, our Artist to wear a different check shirt from the first meet up so it shows its a different time. The other shots shown can be in the same costume as the first base track because it can be done as the first date.

Parents costumes:

Theres a couple of scenes in our music video where the Artist meets the parents of the actress, I would like them to dress seriously or have them in casual clothes to make them more relatable or to make them look strict which is a cliche for girls to have strict parents, especially the father. I would either like them to be well dressed with a shirt and knitted wear or I would like them dressed casually with shirts, jeans and just be subtle so it isn't a cliche.

Props

Because we have multiple shots of different events around the year, were going to have a lot of different props for different scenes. We will have to re decorate each scene in the house to symbolise different events. like for christmas we would have a christmas tree and have lights up to show the time of year.

For inspiration, I have chosen Wilkinson - Afterglow  to get inspiration from the props. 

Analysis of video:

In the music video, It shows all the different statistics of a relationship that has happened over 5 years. The amount of props shown throughout the music video is a lot. For example, these birthday cakes show how long they've been together and showing all of them in bright colours shows that they're young and have bright personalities. The pile of shoes shows how much they've done together. The props show how they have done so much together. the text also emphasises one activity they do together withi the 5 years.

props for Christmas

For Christmas, I would like to have as many props to do with Christmas as possible for the scenes like a Christmas tree, lights, Tinsel and novelty ornaments to be associated with christmas. This will show the audience that they are in the festive season in their relationship and receiving gifts would show the audience how strong their bond is with each other.  

props for Birthdays

Props for the birthdays will be the standard birthday items. Like a shelf full of cards, A birthday cake, Banners and Balloons with a few presents and maybe a meal cooked for the both of them. this can be for both birthdays. We will also use candles in the cake. 

props for New years:

For New years in the music video, I would like to show a table of food and drink for the New years. With balloons and banners to emphasise the new years vibe. I will also Have a bunch of blankets and blow up beds to give a little bit more to the narrative. 

Make up

Our music video will only have subtle Make up on the female actress which will be subtle with a little concealer and foundation.  We don't want to over do make up because we want it to make natural.
